July 2010 CA2Q Chapter Gathering

What a wonderful gathering, CA1M's "Moos" came by for a visit and almost out numbered our own 2Q members. They came up all the way from San Bernardino through 100 plus degrees to add to our fun. Led by our good friend CA1M CD Larry Teagle along with his ACDs Steve & Sandy Damico the "herd" always come in force. We also were honored with a visit by our District Director Bill Johnson who was also accompanied by members of his Staff Nick & Terri Riolo and Lee Spencer & Barbara Smith. We packed in forty four into Carrows banquet area so it was quite cozy.

Wingnut nominations were sparse and those nominated were less than deserving. Of course, you know where I'm taking this too... I somehow got nominated again (what a surprise) for something I don't even recall what for but at least I wasn't alone, Shirley was dragged along with me. Hey... the day wasn't a total lost for me, I won one of the 50/25/25... $67 bucks baby!!!

The after-meeting ride was originally scheduled for the "Two Passes" (Ebbetts & Carson), but due to the extreme heat it was decided we would postpone that ride as a separate day ride when the weather was more tolerable. A ride to the coast and downt o Moss Landing was taken instead. Based on reports from those able to participate on the ride, it turned out to be an excellent outing.

Comments by Bill Androws about the ride to Moss Landing: "Just before we were to get to Big Basin, the road was closed. That is the first picture I took. We back tracked five miles and got on Hwy 17 and then onto Hwy 1 to Moss Landing. We had a great Lunch at Phil's Fish Market & Eatery only 30 minutes later than expected. There we met up with a couple that Bruce knew names Terry. Terry lives in Gilroy and knew where a convenient Ice Cream was. Hwy 17 on the way back was going to be a traffic nightmare so we followed Terry back to Baskin Robins in Gilroy and stopped for some refreshing screamy. Besides the two plan changes, it was a great day ." - Alan
